Utada Surpasses 10 Million Digital Sales in 2007 By JPop News Published: October 3, 2007
According to EMI records, Jpop star Utada Hikaru has now sold more digital tracks in a single year than any other recording artist in history. Her single "Flavor Of Life", released in February, has sold over 7 million copies alone. These impressive sales numbers were released with several months still remaining in 2007 - so the year end numbers should be even higher.
Utada, now 24 years old, has been one of Japan's top Jpop stars since her debut in 1999. She is also well known to fans of Japanese music around the world and has released albums in English for the U.S. market. Utada's next single, "Stay Gold", is expected to be released soon, though the exact date hasn't been set.
