Dan Kaufman is a member of the wildly creative ensemble Barbez. His album Force of Light, recorded with most of the Barbez members and several guest musicians, is a subtle and gorgeous rendering of the great poet Paul Celan's works. It was released in 2007 on John Zorn's influential Tzadik label to overwhelmingly positive reviews. The album has an extremely small but equally enthusiastic cult following.
