Carol Kidd has been known in jazz circles throughout the UK since she was 15, and she became a full time professional singer after singing with Frank Sinatra at Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow in 1990. Sinatra later wrote in his fan magazine, 'Perfectly Frank', expressing that "Carol Kidd is the best kept secret of British Jazz". Tony Bennett was singing in London at the time and he made a point of coming to hear Kidd. Since then, she has collected a series of awards, been voted Best Vocalist at the Cannes International Jazz Awards as Best Vocalist and Edinburgh International Jazz Festival as Best Performer in 1991. In the same year, her recording The Night We Called It A Day was voted Best Jazz Recording at the UK Musical Retailers Awards. She was awarded an MBE (Services To Jazz) at Buckingham Palace in 1998. In 2006, Carol was a winner of the prestigious Nordoff-Robbins Tartan Clef Music Award.
