Bare Knuckle Boxing

From Rohnert Park, California Bare Knuckle Boxing, or BKB for short, have been around since 2003 in one form or another. Frankie Austin (bass), Nick Wan (vocals/guitar), and Evan Tarver (drums) used to be 3 of 5 members in the hardcore band In Absence. After leaving due to creative differences, Austin, Wan, and Tarver created Bare Knuckle Boxing. After playing successfully in the Sonoma County area, BKB joined forces with local MC Brian Clay (vocals) to bring BKB out of the instrumental realm altogether.

After playing successfully in the Sonoma County area, BKB joined forces with local MC Brian Clay (vocals) to bring BKB out of the instrumental realm altogether. This was short-lived however as Clay left for the military.

It was also during this time Remy Chan (guitar) was added to the band lineup, most notably for the song "Kujo and the 18th Stage". All three remaining members took an indefinite hiatus from the band in 2005 due to scheduling problems, which in turn led to the departure of Tarver on drums. In this time, Wan created his solo project Nick Wan Nation as well as joining the band Giant Octopus (originally as a guitarist, then moved to the drummer). Austin formed a successful metal band, Remnants of Life, which went into an indefinite hiatus as well. Austin and Wan started playing together again in 2007, dismantling all the old songs to rebuild and make new ones, as heard from the latest demos.

Wan plays the drums on the current 3 song demo as heard on their MySpace. During the two year hiatus, Wan and Giant Octopus band mates Ryan Tamborski (aka DJ Giant Octopus) and Remy Chan started a productions company, 402 Productions. Under this name, they expanded from their initial DVD production endeavor to having a record label as well. Bare Knuckle Boxing is one of the bands signed to this label.

Currently, Bare Knuckle Boxing is recording a new demo CD and is also looking for a new drummer. Their MySpace page informs viewers that Brett Decker (drums) will be filling in for upcoming shows.
