Awash With Antler
Awash With Antler
Female trio, Awash With AntleR, live by the North sea port & muddy Humber banks of Hull. They combine vocal harmonies with rich folk narratives; orchestral strings with trippy teapot tapping; twinkling keys with stomping beats. Having gained a reputation for weird & wonderful stage shows, AWA have supported the likes of King Creosote, Carla Bozulich, The Cave Singers & Finley Quaye. Forming in autumn 2007, they spent much of 2008 playing parties, old boathouses & underground venues around Yorkshire.

Their debut EP was released at the start of 2009, in conjunction with a mini UK tour & a live radio session on BBC Raw Talent Introducing. Their track ‘Bison’ was recently featured on a SXSW (Texas)/ Yorkshire music showcase cd, as organized by The Timeless Music Project. ‘In short: haunting, lush & magnificent’ Sandman Magazine "... a musical space that definitely sounds very much their own...an almost orchestral canvas over which their edgy and sometimes shy vocals, pour strange melodies and descriptive, dramatic dialogues...hugely original." Manchester Music Online ‘Wonderfully bizarre all-female group, lying somewhere between the vaudevillian madness of Kate Bush, Fiona Apple at her Extraordinary Machine darkest and Bjork’s pots-and-pans-galore experimentation.’ More & More Tiger Promotions "Wish John Peel were still around. He'd have loved you lot!" Paul Heaton "...
a set that thrilled and spilled off the stage with an urgency and basic desire to create. If necessity is the mother of invention, then I believe that Awash With Antler are each her daughter."
