Aural Cunt Punt

"I came into this... expecting either goregrind or noisegrind in the vein of torsofuck or something. I really can't say I'm disappointed, but I'm not pleased either." -Fragster, of the what.cd forums. Mike Patton's Mr. Bungle got pretty clinical with the odd time signature, and Roy Overbeek got pretty busy with their complex arrangements, but the universal powerhouse Aural Cunt Punt simply threw the avant-garde boner out the window.

Mike Patton's Mr. Bungle got pretty clinical with the odd time signature, and Roy Overbeek got pretty busy with their complex arrangements, but the universal powerhouse Aural Cunt Punt simply threw the avant-garde boner out the window. Their first official recording, 2008's ground breaking DEMOOOO, meshed all kinds of random shit on an unprecedented scale, and explored the creative possibilities of this strange musical boner hybrid to a degree which has yet to be equalled.

For Aural Cunt Punt, the traditional framework of avant-garde songwriting served as a mere foundation over which the band would take flight, yielding moments of mind-blowing diversity and inspiration (and, occasionally, dumbfounded confusion) on multi-faceted tracks like "Homage to Partysquad," "Stairway to Freebird (Neil Young Demo)" and "Molarmolar Molar Paratrooper". Never mind the contrast of time travelling proportions created by their multiple masterminds, clashing boner age-style techno samples with robotic computer-processed melodies). And yet, as not suggested by its title, their stunning sonic collages were uncommonly focused and concise, avoiding the time transgressions of avant-garde to achieve even greater impact. Simply put, DEMOOOO remains a wholly original and widely respected boner amongst the small avant-garde community, many of whom still regard it as the ultimate statement in the genre.
