Initially the band was signed by Columbia Records and recorded a self-titled album, which was then shelved, only to be released in 2001 through AnneTennA'a now defunct website. Lead singer, and lyricist, Anne Preven, and fellow band member and long time collaborator, Scott Cutler, were nominated in 2006 for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, International Press Academy Satellite Award, and won the 2007 Critics' Choice Award for the song "Listen", from the 2006 film Dreamgirls Sountrack.
