Formed at an international Esperanto gathering sometime in the late 1900s, Anachronism single-handedly created the groundbreaking genre of poist-rock, influencing legions of imitators around the world. The band's members, having met abroad, are from all over the globe. The group consists of Dutch percussionist/flautist Joris Schoonen, Ukrainian guitarist/violinist Danya Timoshenko, and the late Hungarian bassist/bassoonist Jόska Rákosi. The two-man-trio are occasionally aided by French lyricist and absurdist poet Ansel Neville as well as American vocalist Daniel DeBonis.

The two-man-trio are occasionally aided by French lyricist and absurdist poet Ansel Neville as well as American vocalist Daniel DeBonis.
The band is based in northern Estonia, but regularly travels to Darfur and tours in the middle east with prominence. While the dictionary definition of 'poist-rock' is somewhere between "musical communism" and "isolated improv," the band's influences come from a wide range of sources. Joris is a classically trained drummer and studied the works of Witold Lutosławski and György Ligeti at a Swiss university, while Danya lived busking on the streets of Kharkov for much of his childhood, playing mainly blues and folk tunes. Jόska, in his life, played with such avant-garde legends as Fred Frith and Captain Beefheart, and was even rumored to have taken bass guitar lessons from Bernard Paganotti. Unfortunately, Paganotti adamantly refuses to confirm or deny the allegations, and with Jόska's death, the truth is forever lost. After the breakout success of their single Aught but Aught, the terrorist attack of 9/11 occurred and the group retreated into hiding.
The band is currently still hiding, and the only news of their doings is from a dear friend of the band's, an anonymous internet source going by the alias of "Spammer21". More recently, the band has been plotting with an Indonesian gypsy caravan to perform a coup d'état of Romania. After taking control of the established government, the band will enter the studio to record their next album. They then plan to tackle a larger target, such as the Vatican; however nothing has been confirmed by either the band's tour managers or the members themselves.
The story of Jόska Rákosi's death is a tragic one. While in hiding, Jόska contracted malaria from a peasant of a nearby village and was shot down by authorities on his way to a hospital for treatment. His tombstone shall read, "He did not record yr bass." Joris enthusiastically claims Jόska's murderer was a notorious American neo-nazi terrorist, Eoin Balzac, who is leading the American government's effort to find Anachronism's hiding place. Eoin has a long history with the band, originating from the initial incarnation of the band which allegedly included him, quote, “wiggling his finger against his lips to create a sound resembling someone speaking underwater”.
When the “finger-lip” sound became out of style, Joris kindly asked him to withdraw from the band. Shortly after Eoin refused to leave, it became clear to Eoin that music was the band’s secondary purpose, and that worldwide Bolshevism was their primary objective. Eoin made it clear he was a proud fascist, and left the band for ideological differences. Before he left, however, there was an extremely heated debate and ensuing brawl which resulted with Joris sending Eoin a small bomb in the mail for the following Christmas. For fear of detection, the band has not held a ceremony for their fallen comrade (since the band's religion, Greek Orthodox Jainism, demands a funeral procession must be held outdoors with several burning flares).
