An[om]aly

An|om|aly was created in late 2007 in the Parisian suburbs. The first members were Arnaud (guitars backing vocals/SURGERY), Nicolas (drums/SURGERY) and Renan (vocals/ABSYNTHEBOLIK), although Renan soon left the band and was replaced by Fab (CHOKINGONBILE) in June 2008. After a few months of hard work, the band hired James as their permanent bassist in October 2008. The band decided to record its first EP, entitled 'Disconformities' on the 14 and 15 december 2008 at the DarkWizard Studio near Paris.

The recording process was led by François from Pitbulls in the Nursery, who also records more and more French bands at the DarkWizard studio, like Caedeath, Corrosove Elements, Psychobolia, Surgery, Whisper of Death or Psoriasis, to name only a few. In January 2009, the band decided to fire James and replace him by Brendan (Upheaval). Our EP .Disconformities is now out and fully available on our Myspace page.

It's an auto-production because we're still not signed on a label. Anomaly's influences are very wide: from US to Dutch death metal (Origin, Brutus, Devourment, Decrepit Birth, Prostitute Disfigurement...), but also bands like Converge, Ion Dissonance or even Deftones, Muse or Massive Attack. The musicians are open-minded and write very varied compositions without restricting themselves to any rules or any logic.
