Aistvara

Aistvara is a folk metal band from Vilnius, Lithuania, formed in 2007. The aim of Aistvara is to forge from new and archaic music a union that would hold the heritage of ages and yet be adapted to the modern world. Aistvara mostly performs arranged versions of traditional Lithuanian folk songs, including songs of the unique Lithuanian genre of folk singing - sutartinės. The songs come from a variety of historic periods spanning centuries XIII-XIX. As of 2011, there are 3 singers in the band, all of whom are former members of Lithuanian folk music ensemble "Reketukas".
