A to Austr
A to Austr
A to Austr were a British experimental project put together in 1970 by Holyground label manager Mike Levon and the inhabitants of his hippie commune, which included Brian Calvert, Chris Coombs, and Bill Nelson. Their sound is a behemoth journey through psychedelia with a powerful folk vibe. They've effectively put primitive overdubs, raunchy guitar riffs and layers of vocals to fantastic effect entangling each listeners in a whirlpool of psychedelic reverb.

The Penguin Guide to Rare Records calls A to Austr's Music from Holyground "the most sacred UK LP there is," considering only 99 people in the world have an original copy, and it wasn't until 1989 did they release a reissue of the record.
