A Moms

The A Moms, alternatively the Algebra Mothers, were a punk/ post-punk band from Detroit, Michigan in the late 70's. African American vocalist and guitarist Gerald Collins headed the band and co-produced their one release in 1979, which included "Strawberry Cheesecake" and "Modern Noise." Other members included drummer Bronson B. Bronson, bassists David Rice and Ralph Valdez, vocalist Kirsten Rogoff, and organists Diana Balton and Larry Rosa. Their sound was funky and psychedelic, and Gerald Collins' voice was similar to that of Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh.
