Meir Ariel (Heb. מאיר אריאל) (March 2, 1942 - July 18, 1999) was an Israeli singer/songwriter. He is known as a "man of words" for his poetic use of the Hebrew language in his lyrics. In the beggining of his musical career, Ariel wrote for other famous artist such as Shalom Hanoch (Whom he grew up with in Kibutz Mishmarot). When he released his first albums he was considered revoloutionary, in his musical style, lyrical style and the subjects of his lyrics. Ariel has a large fanbase in Israel.
